The obvious and direct costs of accidents include loss of life, injuries and damage to property and the environment. The indirect costs include consequential financial losses ranging from loss of hire, failure to win new business, increased insurance premiums and - of significance in the long term - damaged commercial relationships and loss of goodwill. It is estimated that the indirect costs of a shipping casualty may be nearly three times greater than the direct costs. No doubt, prevention is better than cure.
With this in mind, our objective is to assist our members with loss prevention activities. Our goal is to trim down the direct cost and frequency of claims, to reduce risk exposure and to contribute towards an enhanced safety culture. We are experts in handling and analyzing marine accidents and we gladly offer to share our experience and assist you whenever possible, regardless if matters are claims related or not.
