The Swedish Club has been committed to resource management training since the early 1990s when the Club together with seven other organisations developed the first ever resource management training course for the shipping industry. This course is now labelled Maritime Resource Management. The Club's increased focus on human factor issues and the growing demand for such training, led to a decision to in 2005 form a separate business unit responsible for the further development of the MRM programme and related activities.
