AGM: Members' Day - An insight in government intervention in marine casualties
The topic of this years AGM event was Government intervention in marine casualties, a topic of increasing concern to the shipping community and yet one which rarely makes the headlines.
The keynote presentation was given by Jonathan Walker, LOC, followed by a panel of experts, including Andrew Bardot, International Group of P&I Clubs; Mauricio Garrido, T&T Salvage; Chris Beesley, C Solutions Consultants; and Eric Jacobs, Awilhelmsen Management. They guided the audience through past cases and discussed the long-term implications of this change in attitude to the future of our industry.
The inspirational speak was held by rhetoric consultant Elaine Eksvärd. She acknowledged the difficulty of overcoming stereotypes and that rhetoric is not the art of speaking - it is the art of getting others to listen.
A highlight of Members' Day, the AGM Dinner was held in the Banquet Hall of the newly refurbished Conference Center, at the Elite Park Avenue Hotel. Guests enjoyed the traditional AGM menu of salmon, asparagus, and strawberries followed by dancing in the excellent Riggos Rullande featuring David Lindgren.
