DNV, Gard and The Swedish Club collaborate to address anchor losses
DNV, Gard and The Swedish Club successfully conducted two-session joint webinars on 17 November 2021, discussing anchor losses. The event had two separate sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, accommodating almost 2000 participants connected to the webinars. The presenters delved into an updated analysis of damage cases involving anchor and anchor chain losses. The project partners identified the most frequent technical and operational causes and presented some steps crews and operators can take to address them.
The webinar agenda covered:
- Risks and what goes wrong during anchoring? How to prevent incidents
- Rules & regulations, awareness of design limitations
- Anchor losses/ damage cases – presented by Gard and The Swedish Club, lessons learned
- Questions and answers
Our Loss Prevention Officer, Joakim Enström, shared two case studies during the webinar with lessons learned. Speaking from DNV were Marit Norheim, VP, Materials Specialist, Ioannis Tsarouchas, Principal Engineer, and representing Gard was Jarle Fosen, Senior Loss Prevention Executive.
Shipowners and managers were well represented, and other stakeholders in the maritime industry also connected to the webinar sessions.
Many thanks to DNV GL for organising the event.
