P&IQ Registration now open to all
19 December – In 2010 the International Group launched the P&I Qualification (P&IQ) programme as a dedicated professional qualification providing high quality, sector-specific training in all aspects of P&I insurance to Club employees.

23 December – Electronic Shipping Solutions,  Bolero International Ltd, E-Title Authority Pte Ltd, Global Share S.A. (edoxOnline platform) and WAVE (The WAVE Network) has now been added to the list of IG approved systems.

MSS Case December: Dangerous heaving line caused injury
4 December – In the Monthly Safety Scenario Case of December, an incident during a mooring operation caused a line handler injury. This case gives advice on how to prevent personal injury to those receiving heaving lines, including permitted adaptations to onboard equipment.

Focus: Fumigation
12 December – Our Loss Prevention team have focused on the risks when using fumigation. A too quick chemical reaction of the fumigant due to insufficient handling, can cause ignition and explosions.

US sanctions affect the port of Ventspils, Latvia
12 December – The US State Department has through Office for Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) designated a former government official in Latvia and four companies owned or controlled by him. Of particular interest for members is the designation of Ventspils Freeport Authority.

9 December – London 5 December 2019: The Board of The Swedish Club has announced a 5% General Increase, for P&I, in 2020 reflecting the balanced approach adopted by the Club to meet the needs of its members and the need of the Club to keep premiums abreast with claims.
