Hull Claims Adjuster to Team Göteborg

We are looking for a person who is interested to work in the field of marine insurance and eager develop and specialise within Hull Claims Adjusting.

Our operation is divided into four  teams, located in Gothenburg, Piraeus, Hong Kong and Oslo. As a Hull Claims Adjuster you will belong to the team in Göteborg. Each team is responsible for members within a certain geographical area and has all necessary resources to deliver high quality services in relation to all classes of insurance offered by the Club. As a member of our staff you will experience an international and stimulating business environment. Ships trading on a worldwide basis continuously face new situations, and a changing legal environment puts increasing demands on insurance. Work Description
• Advice concerning scope of coverage under different conditions
• Registration of claims and estimate
• Evaluation, approval and settlement of Payments on Account
• Assisting Members in compiling claim documents
• Adjustment of claims based on different conditions
• Issuing Average Statements and Account Currents
• Checking adjusting colleagues’ Average Statements and Account Currents
• Making presentations and holding seminars
• Emergency duty according to schedule

The job includes travelling and interaction with shipowners, ship managers and insurance brokers in the team’s markets.

Place of work
The place of work is our head office in Göteborg.

Qualifications
Your educational background could be that of a Master Mariner, Marine Engineer or you could have a Law degree including maritime or insurance law. You also need to be in command of basic mathematics. Experience from dealing with insurance claims is an advantage. Skills in MS Excel are required and you have to be fluent in Swedish and English.

You need to have a logical mind and ability to understand legal documents and explain complicated matters both verbally and in writing. A sense of good order and structure is important and so is a consistent approach. The job requires attention to detail paired with an ability to adjust your pace of speed and make priorities when necessary. You need to be self motivated and able to work without close supervision. Much of the job is carried out on a team basis and you need good social and cultural skills.

We will encourage and support training and expect that you are prepared to study and take exams related to the Hull Claims Adjuster role.
