Indeed, October is a festive month. The same goes with The Swedish Club Academy’s jam-packed activities and events as a start of its celebration of MRM’s 20^th year in the maritime industry.

 

MRM in Gothenburg

With the continuous demand of MRM Workshop Leader training, another course was held on 2-3 October 2013 at The Swedish Club Academy’s office in Gothenburg. This time, there were 10 new licenced Workshop Leaders who participated during the event.

Participating companies are: Polarcus, P & O Ferries, Siport21 (Madrid) and Wisby Shipmanagement AB.

Consolidated Training Systems Inc. hosts MRM WSL training in Manila

This year’s second MRM Workshop Leader training in Manila was hosted by Consolidated Training Systems Inc. (CTSI) which was held on 16 October 2013. There were a total of 16 participants who have successfully undertaken the training, of which 3 of them were already licensed Workshop Leader who attended the event as a refresher course.

The following companies were represented at the event: C-Man Maritime Inc., COMPASS Training Center Inc., Consolidated Training Systems Inc., Diamond –H Marine Services & Shipping Agency, Inc., Fairdeal Group Management S.A., Hanseatic Shipping Philippines Inc., IDESS Maritime Centre (Subic) Inc., Norden Shipping, OSM, Pacific Basin Shipping (HK) Limited, Hong Kong and Wisby Shipmanagement AB. The MRM WSL events are usually hosted by our licensed training providers who take turns in providing the venue for these events.

Wallenius Marine highlights MRM at officers’ conference in Manila

A day after the MRM WSL training course hosted by CTSI, Mr. Martin Hernqvist delivered a one-day seminar on Maritime Resource Management at the officers’ conference of Wallenius Marine held on 17 October 2013 at Hyatt Regency Hotel and Casino Manila. The participants during the event are shore-side managers from Sweden and Singapore together with deck and engine officers from the Philippines and Myanmar. With Wallenius Marine highlighting MRM during the conference, participants gained a better understanding on the importance of MRM and at the same time took part during the discussion on accident cases which were analysed from an MRM perspective.

Wallenius Marine aims at implementing MRM in their organisation to further improve safety, efficiency and job satisfaction.

Tärntank strengthens its MRM advocacy

Tärntank’s second officers’ conference this year has again focused on Maritime Resource Management. Mr. Martin Hernqvist delivered a seminar on MRM and related issues in the maritime industry to 33 officers and shore-side staff on 21 October 2013 at Styrsö Skäret, the island closest to Donsö where Tärntank Ship Management is located. During the event, there was an engaging discussion among the participants on the importance of right attitudes and behavior of people onboard the vessel. How communication works best among the crew and how MRM will be applied onboard the vessel were also discussed.

Tärntank is a leading tanker operator based in Sweden and Denmark that pioneers safety and clean shipping.

 

Mr. Hernqvist discusses the different types of culture that influence a person as the participants listen carefully during the presentation.
