Swedish tanker company, Tärntank Rederi AB, recently invited The Swedish Club Academy to give a presentation at their bi-annual Officers Conference in Styrsö Skäret. Project Co-ordinator, Lorraine M. Hager, delivered a 2-hour presentation and workshop on the topics “Improving Safety and Efficiency in Shipping by Understanding Cultural Diversity” and “An overview of the Filipino Seaman” to the Tärntank officers and office staff at the Pensionat Hotel, on October 22. The presentation was well-received by the audience and led to insightul discussions about the Filipino seaman in the workshops.

There were 24 participants, in total, which comprised of masters, chief engineers and office staff. As well as Ms. Hager’s presentation, a representative from Neste Oil based in Finland, gave a short presentation about their company, while the Executive Director of the Danish Government Seamen’s Service talked about the services provided by their office.
