TRAINEE: Assistant Claims Executive

Are you recently qualified with a degree in Shipping and Logistics or Maritime Law and interested to work in the field of marine insurance? Then, you should spend some time reading this. 

Our operation is divided into four teams and one of them is located in Göteborg. Each team is responsible for members (clients) within a certain geographical area and delivers high quality services in relation to the classes of insurance offered. The claims executives are responsible for investigating and handling claims and for providing advice to members regarding insurance cover, nautical or legal matters related to the insurance.

Work Description

As a Trainee you will assist the claims executives generally and you will be introduced to and obtain training in the following areas:

• P&I Rules
• Hull & Machinery Insurance conditions and clauses
• Investigating claims
• Assessing proper reserves
• Appointing surveyors and other representatives and reviewing reports
• Assessing liability
• Negotiate with opponents
• Adjusting claims

Place of work and period of trainee ship 

The place of work is our head office in Göteborg. The traineeship starts in January 2016 and lasts for one year. A trainee salary will be paid. Unless you already live in the Gothenburg area, you must arrange for your own accommodation.

Qualifications

The trainee position is offered to you who is recently qualified with either a degree in Shipping & Logistics or Law (including Maritime Law). Understanding of marine insurance, maritime law or nautical matters are useful qualifications. Experience from studying or working abroad is also an advantage. You have to speak English fluently and express yourself accurately in writing. Good command of the Swedish language is an advantage.
