The International Development and Environmental Shipping School (IDESS) was established in Sweden and Norway in 1989. IDESS initially concentrated solely on tanker operations and safety, and this continues to be the focus of its training operation.

IDESS established a training centre in Manila in 1991 to offer its tanker courses in the Philippines. In October 1995, IDESS opened its new, purpose-built training centre in Subic Bay, the result of major investment in modern equipment and teaching aids.

IDESS is our third MRM training partner in the Philippines, and the school is an independent organisation whose services are available to all members of the international shipping community.
