A product tanker outside a West African port was attacked by pirates while awaiting berth. Since this is a high-risk area preventive measures had been ordered by the Master. Get advice on piracy matters from our Loss Prevention team.

In this case the pirates used a ladder to board the vessel from a small boat that were not detected on the radar. Later on, more pirates rejoined with bigger vessels.

The pirates took control of the vessel and emptied the cargo to another tanker. The whole crew where placed in the mess room with their hands tied.
