
War Risk Insurance 2005 – Notice of Cancellation
Reference is made to the War Risk Circular H&M 365/2005, the terms for War Risk Insurance in place for Members. The Association hereby gives notice of cancellation as per relevant Notice of Cancellation Clause for Excluded Trading Areas with effect from midnight BST 31st July 2005 (23:00 GMT). The cover is from that time reinstated with enclosed new “Listed Areas” (previously expressed as “excluded areas”) together with the enclosed “Navigational Limitations for Hull War, Strikes, Terrorism and Related Perils Endorsements” (JW2005/001A) and, as and where applicable, the “Hull War, Strikes, Terrorism and Related Perils Notice of Cancellation Administration Clause” (JW2005/001B). All other clauses and conditions in the War cover provided by the Association remains unaltered.
Background:
Listed Areas – new “excluded areas” where a majority has changed following a revision done by a consultant to London market who provides the reinsurance of the Association. Please refer to the enclosure but note following new areas:
- Malacca Strait
- Indonesia
- Philippines
- South Coast of Thailand
Also note that following areas have been deleted from the exclusion:
- Red Sea / Egypt (Saudi Arabia, ports and places, is in the new Listed Areas)
- Kuwait, Iran, Yemen, Syria and UAE
- Sri Lanka
- Liberia, Sierra Leone
Trading – “Listed Areas”
The insurance is valid world-wide, however with a General Cancellation Clause of seven days as regards trading warranties, with the following areas currently excluded. Trading to Listed Areas should be reported to the Association. If trading to an excluded area is permitted, an additional premium may be required. The additional premium is decided in each case. (ref JW2005/001A)
Specific ports, places and coasts should be understood to include harbours, offshore installations, and adjacent waters up to 12 miles offshore unless otherwise agreed.
