The new USDA regulations governing the use of wood packaging materials with their revisions will come into force on September 16, 2005, and although we are sure that those Member’s affected by this regulation are or will be in compliance, it seems prudent to mention the regulations once again.

The regulations outline the acceptable means of treatment for those materials defined by the regulations to be WPM, and not exempt.

The members are cautioned that should the material used for packing or securing the cargo be found not to comply with these regulations the material will, and the cargo may, be subject to exportation.
