I have received confirmation from our office in Libreville this morning that the Gabonese ports are working with full security. I have nevertheless requested regular updates and indeed more information concerning the call for a general strike made by the opposition on Thursday 08 September and the chances of this being realized and affecting the ports.
Vessels at the anchorage can be considered to be safe but if for any reason there was a requirement for a vessel to leave the port of Owendo rapidly , given the usual problems of current and tide, this is not possible without pilotage and if a Master deemed it necessary, an emergency departure would be rather risky.
