Work Description
P&I is short for Protection and Indemnity and this class of insurance provides cover for various liabilities arising from the operation of the ship. As a P&I Claims Executive you are responsible for the handling of P&I claims and for providing advice to our members (clients). The working tasks include:
- Handling all sorts of P&I claims as required including:
– Investigating claims and assessing proper reserves
– Instructing surveyors, correspondents, experts and lawyers
– Determining insurance cover
– Evaluating the merits of each case
– Conducting negotiations
– Approval and payment of claims/fees
- Providing advice in relation to the P&I Insurance to members
- Making presentations and writing articles for the Club’s publications
The job includes travelling and extensive interaction with shipowners, managers and insurance brokers in the team’s markets.

The place of work is our head office in Göteborg.
Qualifications
Education: We are looking for candidates with a degree in Nautical Science, Shipping & Logistics or similar. A Master Mariner qualification or education in maritime law is considered an advantage but not a requirement.
Experience: Working experience from the marine shipping industry or the marine insurance sector important. Seagoing experience is an advantage as is experience from P&I or cargo claims in general.
Language: You have to be fluent in Swedish and English orally and in writing.
Other qualities: You need to be a good co-ordinator with excellent communication and social skills. The work also requires an analytical mind coupled with an ability of giving priority to the right things.
