
Claims Executive to Team Piraeus
We are looking for a person with a Marine Engineering background who is interested to work in the field of Marine Insurance and eager to develop and specialise within the area of Hull & Machinery and P&I Insurance.
Our operation is divided into four teams, located in Gothenburg, Piraeus, Hong Kong and Oslo. As a Claims Executive you will belong to the team in Piraeus. Each team is responsible for members within a certain geographical area and has all necessary resources to deliver high quality services in relation to all classes of insurance offered by the Club. Work description
Independently handle claims and technical matters in relation to Hull & Machinery and P&I insurance including risk assessment.
• Claims handling
• Technical advice in connection with damage and insurance related matters
• Yard selection, location of spare parts, repair specifications, negotiations and evaluation of repair costs
• Prepare or review survey reports
• Technical rating of vessels
• Risk assessment of prospective members and vessels
• Ship surveys
• Monitor and follow up technical standard and safety management aspects of vessels
• Loss Prevention work
The job includes travelling and interaction with shipowners, ship managers, lawyers, Club correspondents, surveyors, ship yards, classification societies, maritime authorities and other insurance companies.
Place of work
The place of work is our office in Piraeus and the employment is on local terms.
Qualifications
Your educational background is in Marine Engineering and it is an advantage if you have seagoing experience in the role as First or Chief Engineer. You may also have a background as a Superintendent or Technical Manager. Experience from dealing with insurance claims is an advantage.
You have to be fluent in English, written and spoken.
You need to have the ability to understand legal documents and explain complicated matters both verbally and in writing. A sense of good order and structure is important and so is a consistent approach. The job also requires an extrovert and outgoing attitude. Much of the job is carried out on a team basis and you need good social and cultural skills.
