Our operation is divided into four teams, located in Gothenburg, Piraeus, Hong Kong and Oslo. Our marine portfolio is growing and we are looking for a Senior Claims Executive/Claims Manager with special emphasis on Marine to join our team in Gothenburg.
Work Description
In this role you are responsible for the handling of Marine claims and for providing advice to our members. The working tasks include:
Handling all types of marine casualties and claims under insurance policies including engine/machinery-, collision-, fire- and grounding damages as well as maritime salvage. This may include:
- Instructing and managing experts
- Investigating cause of damage
- Assisting clients in liability matters including negotiating settlements with third parties
- Arranging for salvage assistance including negotiating salvage terms with salvors
- Assessing, adjusting and settling claims under various insurance policies
- Reviewing and approving external claims adjustments
- Internal and external reporting of major casualties
- Assisting with nautical, legal and technical advice in insurance related matters
- Making presentations and writing articles for the Club’s publications
The job includes travelling and extensive interaction with shipowners, managers and insurance brokers in the team’s market.

The place of work is our head office in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Qualifications
Education: We are looking for candidates with a degree in Nautical Science, Ship Engineering or Maritime Law.
Experience: At least five years’ working experience from practising Marine Claims is expected. Preferably, you have worked for a Marine Insurer, P&I Club, Marine Claims Adjuster or a Shipowner. Experience from handling large cases is a plus.
Language: You have to be fluent in English orally and in writing.
Other qualities: You need to be a good co-ordinator with excellent communication and social skills. The work also requires an analytical mind coupled with an ability of giving priority to the right things and focus on solutions. Prompt and high quality service is one of our distinctive features so a proactive and flexible work style is required.
