The Swedish Club Academy strengthens ties with the maritime training providers in China

Another MRM Workshop Leader training was successfully conducted in Shanghai, China on 11-13 September 2013 with 16 participants attending the event. This is part of The Swedish Club Academy’s campaign to strengthen ties with the Chinese maritime industry particularly with the maritime training providers. Promoting MRM in China is definitely worthwhile in achieving the Academy’s ultimate goal, namely, developing people for safer shipping. The event was also a venue for creative discussions on the current maritime issues and incidents especially concerning the Chinese seafarers.

The companies who participated were the following: Anglo-Eastern Ship Management Co. Ltd., BSM China, CMA CGM Shipping, Dalian Maritime University, ID Wallem Shipmanagement Ltd., Seaspan Ship Management Ltd., Sietc-Crew Qingdao, Star Cruises and Wallem Maritime Training Centre. This is the first MRM Workshop Leader training event that was held in mainland China. All the participants have expressed positive feedback and are looking forward to passing on the training to their respective companies and to the seafarers.

During the training, participants were very eager to know what the MRM course was all about and how they will facilitate the course to their clients.

A lively discussion among the participants followed after the “missing information” slide of the MRM course was presented.
