
TRAINEE – Claims Executive Marine and P&I
Are you a young person with an academic degree in Maritime Law and/or Nautical Science or similar and interested to work in the field of marine insurance? Then you should spend the time to read this.
Introduction
Our operation is divided into four teams and one of them is located in Göteborg. Each team is responsible for members (clients) within a certain geographical area and has all necessary resources to deliver high quality services in relation to the classes of insurance offered. The claims executives are responsible for investigating and handling claims and for providing advice to members regarding insurance cover, nautical or legal matters related to the insurance.
Work Description
As a Trainee you will assist the claims executives generally and you will be introduced to and obtain training in the following areas:
• P&I Rules
• Hull & Machinery Insurance conditions and clauses
• Investigating claims
• Assessing proper reserves
• Appointing surveyors and other representatives and reviewing reports
• Assessing liability
• Negotiate with opponents
• Adjusting claims
You will have many opportunities to communicate and meet with members and correspondents from different countries. Some travelling may be required.

Place of work and period of trainee ship
The place of work is our head office in Göteborg. The traineeship period is one year and a trainee salary will be paid. You must arrange for your own accomodation.
Qualifications
The trainee position is offered to you who is a young person, recently qualified with an academic degree in Maritime Law and/or Nautical Science or similar. Understanding of marine insurance, shipping or nautical matters are useful qualifications. Experience from studying or working abroad is also an advantage. You have to be fluent in Swedish and in good command of English. You must be able to express yourself accurately in writing in both languages.
