
Trainee – Hull Claims
Are you a young person with either an academic degree in Shipping & Logistics, Nautical Science or a Master Mariner, and interested to work in the field of marine insurance? Then you should read this.
Our operation is divided into four teams; two of them located in Gothenburg. Each team is responsible for members (clients) within a certain geographical area and has all necessary resources to deliver high quality services in relation to all classes of insurance offered by the Club. The claims executives are responsible for investigating and handling claims and for providing advice to members regarding insurance cover, nautical or legal matters related to the insurance.
Work Description
- As a Trainee you will assist the claims executives generally and be introduced to and obtain training in the following areas:
- Hull & Machinery insurance conditions and ancillary covers
- Investigating claims
- Assessing proper reserves
- Appointing surveyors and other representatives and reviewing reports
- Assessing liability
- Negotiate with opponents
- Adjusting claims
You will have many opportunities to communicate and meet with shipowners and brokers from different countries. Some travelling may be required. As a member of our staff we can promise an international and stimulating environment. Place of work and period of trainee ship
The place of work is our head office in Göteborg. The traineeship period is one year starting 1 September 2010. A trainee salary will be paid. If you do not live in the Gothenburg area, you must arrange for your own accommodation.
Qualifications
The position is offered to you who are young, recently qualified with an academic degree involving shipping and logistics, nautical sience or Master Mariner. Know-ledge of maritime law is a requirement. In addition, understanding of marine insurance is useful. Experience from studying or working abroad is also an advantage. You have to be fluent in Swedish as well as in good command of English and be able to express yourself accurately in writing in both languages. We are also looking for a service minded and open person with a positive attitude and pro-active work style.
