Reinsurance Day 2016
On the evening of 9 May, The Swedish Club reinsurance team kicked off our annual Reinsurance Day event with an informal dinner at the restaurant “SandbergMånsson” in Göteborg. During the course of a very pleasant evening, Lars Nilsson, Senior Manager Reinsurance, took the opportunity of thanking Terry McSweeney of Aon Benfield for the many years of excellent cooperation upon his upcoming retirement.
The following morning we met up with the representatives of the Club’s reinsurers and reinsurance brokers at the Novotel Hotel. The Managing Director Lars Rhodin opened the event by presenting the current state of affairs and also offered an insight into his and the Club’s view on what lies ahead for the marine insurance business.
Erik Mattson, who specialises in human communication, then took the floor and overthrew anything we thought we knew about the influence of body language. His ability to act and dramatise his theories was much appreciated and left us all laughing and with quite a few things to (re)consider.
The afternoon was spent outside the city at a rustic farm called “Rävgården”. It is impossible to guess what was on our guest’s minds when it dawned on them that they would be spending a few hours in the sun wearing redundant military clothes driving very strange cars! If not all of us excelled, it’s safe to say everybody gave it their absolute best and really got into the driving challenges. Thank you to all who participated.
Reinsurance Day 2016 ended in the kitchen with two of Sweden’s top chefs, Ulf Wagner and Gustav Trädgårdh, who guided us through the art of cooking the evening dinner.
