Small craft insurance is designed for smaller commercial vessels engaged in coastal and domestic trade, where operational conditions and risk profiles differ from ocean‑going shipping. The Swedish Club provides tailored insurance solutions for a wide range of small craft operating in Nordic waters.
The cover combines hull and machinery, and liability insurance, structured to reflect vessel type, operational pattern and regulatory requirements.

Trading and eligibility criteria
Navigation limited to Nordic waters
Nordic‑flagged vessels with valid certification
Vessels up to 3,000 gross tons
Hull and Machinery insurance
Protection for physical damage and total loss
Hull & Machinery insurance provides cover for physical loss or damage to the vessel, including collision, contact damage and salvage.
Based on the Nordic Marine Insurance Plan or national conditions.
Insurance limits up to USD 5 million.
Deductibles agreed and structured to reflect operational profile.
Liability insurance – P&I
Third‑party liability protection for small craft
Liability insurance Based on The Swedish Club’s P&I Rules covering third‑party liabilities arising from vessel operations, including personal injury, cargo damage, pollution and wreck removal.
Cover options include:
Fixed premium cover up to USD 50 million for passenger vessels (up to 50 passengers).
Fixed premium cover up to USD 20 million for fishing vessels, tugs, barges and similar vessels.
Full mutual P&I cover for vessels with higher or more complex liability exposure.
Deductibles agreed in line with business and risk profile.
