Loss of Hire Insurance protects the assured against loss of income when a vessel is taken out of service as a result of damage recoverable under the Hull & Machinery policy. It responds to periods of operational interruption, providing compensation while repairs are carried out.
Key coverage features
Trigger events
Cover applies when physical damage recoverable under the Hull & Machinery policy results in loss of income.
Waiting period (time deductible)
A predefined waiting period applies before compensation commences, commonly 14 days.
Compensation period
Cover is provided for a fixed number of days per incident, typically 60, 90 or 180 days, subject to an annual aggregate limit.
Reinstatement option
Where the annual limit is exhausted in full or in part, cover may be reinstated for the remainder of the policy period.
Waiting periods, limits and terms are structured to reflect the Member’s operational profile and income exposure.
