Legal support for charterparty and operational disputes
Freight, Demurrage & Defence (FD&D) Insurance for Charterers provides cover for legal and related costs arising from disputes connected to chartering activities. The cover responds to matters such as charterparty disputes, freight and demurrage claims, off‑hire issues and cargo‑related disagreements that fall outside traditional marine insurance.
FD&D is available to charterers holding Charterers’ Liability insurance and provides access to the Club’s experienced in‑house legal team, supported by carefully selected external experts. The focus is on early involvement, practical case assessment and efficient dispute management.
Cover includes
Legal costs and associated expenses arising from covered disputes
(The disputed amount itself is excluded)
Cover is provided in accordance with the Club’s FD&D Rules and agreed terms.
