Standard marine insurance policies exclude losses arising from war and politically motivated events. War Risks Insurances are designed to address this gap, providing protection against loss, damage or liability resulting from war‑related and political risks affecting vessel operations.
The cover supports Members trading in exposed or volatile areas by responding to insured events that may have a significant operational or financial impact.
Covered perils include
War, civil war, rebellion and insurrection.
Weapons of war, including mines and torpedoes.
Arrest, seizure, detention or restraint by authorities.
Confiscation, riots, strikes and piracy.
Sabotage, terrorism and politically motivated acts.
Blocking and trapping (up to 12 months).
