Kidnap and Ransom Insurance is designed to address the financial and operational risks arising when a vessel and/or crew are seized, hijacked or detained for ransom – risks typically excluded under standard marine and war insurance policies.
The cover responds to a wide range of costs and expenses that may arise during a hijacking or kidnapping incident, while providing access to specialist crisis response support to assist in managing the situation and securing a resolution.
Cover terms and limits are structured to reflect trading patterns, risk exposure and operational profile.

Ransom payments.
Loss of ransom monies in transit.
Crisis management and specialist response consultants.
Legal liability arising from a covered event.
Additional expenses incurred as a result of the incident, including crew rest and rehabilitation, port and fuel‑related costs.
Personal accident benefits arising from kidnapping or hijacking incidents.
Cover is available worldwide, subject to excluded high‑risk areas where additional premium and conditions apply.
