Following observations that shipping companies evade sanctions against North Korea the US Department of State has issued a guidance.

The US guidance is containing:

• An overview of the sanctions provisions
• A list of North Korean tankers that that are known to be capable of engaging in ship to ship transfers
• Guidance on best practice how to avoid becoming engaged in illicit activities
• A list of vessels that are believed to have been engaged in unlawful trade
