The Swedish Club launches new Loss Prevention podcast, Knot Another Lesson
The Swedish Club has launched Knot Another Lesson, a new podcast exploring the practical lessons, emerging risks and operational challenges shaping the maritime industry.
Hosted by Joakim Enström, Loss Prevention Manager at The Swedish Club, the podcast brings together industry experts and practitioners for focused conversations on the issues that matter to shipowners, operators, seafarers and maritime professionals.
Built around The Swedish Club’s Loss Prevention expertise, Knot Another Lesson is designed to make complex subjects accessible and useful, looking beyond theory to explore how risk is understood and managed in real-world operations.
Joakim Enström said: “Shipping is an industry where there is always something new to learn. With Knot Another Lesson, we want to create practical conversations around the challenges people are dealing with every day, while also looking at how the industry can learn from experience and improve.
“The aim is not to tell people how to do their jobs. It is to bring together different perspectives, ask useful questions and give listeners something they can take back into their own organisations.”
Episodes will cover a broad range of subjects relevant to maritime safety and risk management, including leadership and decision-making, passage planning and pilotage, cargo misdeclaration, digitalisation and cyber risk.
Among the first discussions are Captain Hans Hederström on the 4Ps framework and the relationship between philosophy, policies, procedures and practice; pilot Magnus Andersson on passage planning, bridge-team communication and the Master–Pilot Exchange; and cyber specialists examining the growing operational and insurance implications of maritime cyber risk.
Johan Kahlmeter, Chief Claims Officer at The Swedish Club, said: “Loss Prevention is about turning experience into action. Every claim, incident and near miss can provide valuable insight, but the real benefit comes when those lessons are shared and applied across the industry. Knot Another Lesson gives us a fresh and engaging way to share that knowledge, bring different perspectives to the table and drive the conversation forward around the key issues facing the maritime industry.”
The podcast forms part of The Swedish Club’s wider approach to proactive Loss Prevention, which aims to help members and clients manage current and emerging risks and contribute to a stronger maritime safety culture.
Knot Another Lesson will be available through The Swedish Club’s digital channels and podcast platforms.
