The Swedish Club has developed a series of Forward Defence Guides offering practical guidance on contractual and legal issues commonly encountered by shipowners and operators. Produced in collaboration with experienced maritime lawyers, these guides help Members understand areas of potential dispute and take steps to prevent and effectively manage claims.

The Forward Defence Guides currently cover topics including:

• Off-hire and equitable set-off
• Remedies for non-payment of hire
• War risks clauses in charter parties
• Delivery and redelivery
• Unsafe port claims

The Club will add further titles over time to address additional areas of dispute.

This series aligns with The Swedish Club’s FD&D service, which delivers legal expertise and hands-on support to help Members identify risks early and resolve disputes efficiently.
