Advice, Loss Prevention

Focus: Cargo hatch covers

Wet damage on cargo is a common problem at sea. Seawater may ingress into cargo holds in bad condition and cause serious damage.

Our Loss Prevention team has worked together with experts from DNV GL and MacGregor to prepare advice on how to avoid wet damage on cargo. This includes preparations before sailing as well as maintenance instructions for the hatch covers targeted at both the crew and manager.

Maintenance instructions for each component of the hatch cover system are provided, with suggestions on how to include this activity in the PMS.
